Deep tissue massage uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries.

  • While everybody is different, generally speaking, getting massage on a monthly basis can be an important part of preventative care. However, if there is a specific condition or injury to address, more frequent sessions may be necessary, initially. Your therapist will be able to discuss a treatment plan with you after they are able to assess.

Your therapist will utilize various pillows and bolsters to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the session. We do advise that you check with your doctor prior to your session.

Tension headaches are quite common and can be caused by tight muscles in the head, neck, face, or shoulders. Massage is a great way to loosen these muscles. The overall effects of massage including reduced tension, stress, and anxiety along with increased circulation are all helpful in addressing pain caused by various types of headaches. There are different types of massage that can be helpful in addressing headaches (for example, trigger point work, reflexology, Swedish) so please discuss with your therapist or call the office to be sure your needs are addressed.

Your Session

  • Your massage therapist will review your intake form and discuss, with you, any relevant conditions, your goals for the session, and their plan for the session. This will be done in a private treatment room. Once the plan for the session is set, you will be left to get on the massage table while your therapist prepares. Description text goes here

  • This is completely up to you! Your therapist will advise you to undress to your desired level of comfort. You will undress in a private treatment room and will be covered by sheets and a blanket during the session. Any undergarments that are worn may require your therapist to alter the plan or approach to accommodate as they will work around the garments.

If you prefer not to undress at all, we offer clothed services such as Chair Massage or Energy work.

  • You will be properly covered or draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Your therapist will uncover only the area of the body that is being worked on. If you feel uncomfortable for any reason during the session, you should let your therapist know immediately.

  • Tipping is a great way to show your therapist that you enjoyed the service they provided! Should you choose to leave a tip, you have the option to leave cash or add a percentage to your card when checking out. As it is not required or expected, any amount you choose to leave is appreciated.

  • Here at Westborough Massage, the time you book is the hands on time. Our appointments are staggered to allow the therapists appropriate time for cleaning, intake, and preparation so this is not done during your appointment time.

  • There are many different types of massage and the pressure used can vary depending on which type of service you have booked, your therapist, and your body’s response to the work. Your therapist may discuss areas where some deeper work may be necessary but your feedback on what you are feeling is an important aspect of a successful massage to ensure it is not too much to handle.

Massage does not have to hurt to be effective.

Please communicate with your therapist if the pressure is not quite right - we will adjust!

  • We recommend that you be sure to drink plenty of water after your massage to ensure your muscles and tissues stay hydrated. We also recommend taking some time after the session to relax and feel the full benefits of massage, but there are no restrictions.

If you feel sore after a session, a hot shower or bath can help to ease any discomfort.
